Your Child at NKS

The primary aim of the Childcare Facility is to provide good quality childcare which offers a holistic approach through early years intervention in order to meet pre-school children's needs. The service also provides opportunities for the positive development of pre-school children through play and allow mothers to participate in various activities of interest to them at NKS or anywhere else in Edinburgh.

There are two sessions per day:

Morning session        8.30 am - 12.45 pm
Afternoon session    12.45 pm - 4.45 pm
Full day                         8.30 am - 4.45 pm


Fees per child

Over 2

Half Day / one session : £8
Full Day : £14
Full week : £60
Snack money : £1.50
Fees for 4 weeks : £240 + snack £6 = £246

Under 2

Half Day / one session : £11.25
Full Day : £21.25
Full week : £106.25
Snack money : £1.50
Fees for 4 weeks : £425 + snack £6 = £431

Programme of Activities

Curriculum for excellence and birth to 3 years framework
We provide Full-time childcare at NKS for babies to 5 yrs old children. The programme of activities is based on Curriculum for Excellence and birth to 3 years frame work.


Bilingual Skills
The programme reflect acitivities for children to develop their bilingual skills and information about day to day life living in Scottish society.


Health Promotion
We organise outdoor activities to encourage children and parents to live healthy lifestyle. NKS promotes healthy eating for pre-school children.


Story Sessions
Stories from various cultural backgrounds are read to children to develop their interest in books.


Nursery Rhymes
Nursery rhymes are sung to encourage children to sing with other children.


Arts and Crafts
Painting, paper cutting and colouring are some of the basic skills the children are taught.


Computers
Computing activities are also available for children, which help them to learn co-ordination of eyes and hand movement and works as a visual tool for developing language and literacy skills.

Bus No. 27 and 10 go down Gilmore Place. Just get off on the second stop after King’s Theatre.

If this doesn’t suit you then many buses go to Tollcross, in which case you should get off at King’s Theatre and walk down Gilmore Place(opposite the Theatre).
