LOW CARBON COMMUNITIES INITIATIVE
NKS is working with women and their families to lower their carbon footprints by: reusing and recycling materials such as clothes, glass, card, paper and wood etc; gardening; car sharing; home energy checks; walking and cycling etc. Come and find out more about carbon reduction and how you can make a difference.
The idea for the NKS Climate Challenge Initiative (NKS CCI) project came out of the consultation that was carried out under the Development Grant from Keep Scotland Beautiful. The women that were consulted expressed a huge interest in the project. They expressed their interest in waste recycling, food growing and energy efficiency. Since the consultation many women have shown interest in learning how to ride a bicycle.
NKS has been working with South Asian communities in Edinburgh for the last five years to raise awareness of the changes taking place in the global climate conditions and its impact on the planet Earth. The organisation has achieved positive outcomes that have ensured changed behaviour among people to help reduce carbon foot prints.
We are working closely with the local communities to ensure sustainable changed behaviour that has long term impact on the challenges thrown by climate change. If you would like to learn more and participate in climate challenge activities, please get in touch with NKS.
